|
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to help families define their marital identity through family counseling.
Methods: Drawing on Erikson¡¯s identity theory and Gadamer¡¯s hermeneutics, the researcher conducted an in-depth qualitative research study of a married couple¡¯s life experiences.
Results: Because of the change in support of Korean society¡¯s Confucian values, married couples required family counseling to help them find a new perspective of their marital identity and achieve a satisfactory marriage.
Conclusions: Family counseling can significantly help married couples recreate their marital identity.
