Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the moderating effects of optimism on the relationship between partner infidelity and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Methods: Data were collected from 113 adults (both single and married) between 20 and 65 years old. Collected data were analyzed by frequency, t-test, moderated stepwise regression, and simple slope analysis.

Results: Partner infidelity was significantly related to measures of PTSD. Optimism moderated between the infidelity and PTSD.

Conclusions: These findings support the need for intervention in relationships with partner infidelity. Suggestions regarding the nature of the therapy and directions for future research were discussed.
