Curriculum Development for Training Professionals on Multicultural Family Counseling

Abstract
Objectives: This study proposed a direction for future professional training of multicultural family counseling. The authors developed a curriculum based on practical needs and established parameters for education and training.

Methods: A theoretical review method was used, focusing on legality of professional training for projects supporting multicultural families, characteristics of multicultural family counseling, multicultural family counselors¡¯ qualities, and curricula of public training courses related to multicultural family counseling.

Results: Two tracks of courses were developed (basic/advanced) for professional trainings of multicultural family counseling. Each track involved a total 100 hours (lecture 80 hours, practicum 20 hours) of training for ten subjects.
Conclusions: The authors reflected on the issuing of certificates, curriculum foundations, university-level topics to be offered, the securing of lecturers, the systematization of subjects, and connections to the field.
