Objectives: This study set out to investigate the experience of wise couple's relationships.
Methods: The researchers conducted 90-minute interviews with five couples in Gyeonggi province who had been married over 20 years. The data, collected in August and September, 2017, were analyzed using an interpretive phenomenological method.
Results: Five large themes (and 20 small themes with components) were derived: a) coexistence & balance, b) putting myself in partner's shoes, c) actions for values, d) aesthetics of conversation, and e) trust of partner's being on my side.
Conclusions: Future couple¡¯s counseling, therapeutic practice, and prevention approaches would benefit if they included an understanding of constructs in wise couples' relationships, including not only their conflict, but also their commitment to mutual consideration.
