Objectives: Since 1993, the Korean Journal of Family Therapy (KJFT) has been publishing research of various topics and types. Research trend analyses of the studies published in the KJFT were made in 2008 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the association. However, for the 30th anniversary, the need to shed light on the current status of KJFT research was clear. This study aimed to understand the features and trends of research published in the KJFT for the last 10 years (2008-2018) and offer some useful tips for future studies on family and family therapy.
Methods: A total of 228 published articles were analyzed, classifying them as either clinical or non-clinical studies. The clinical studies were further classified as either multiple-case or single-case, and the non-clinical studies were classified as either empirical or review studies. Particular emphasis was placed on clinical studies, focusing on participant characteristics, intervention types, research designs, and analytic methods.
Results: Features and trends of the studies were illuminated, particularly the clinical studies that were published in the KJFT over the last 10 years.
Conclusions: The findings gave rise to important research tips for the development of the field of family therapy.
