A Narrative Inquiry of Experiences of Families Bereaved by Suicide

Abstract
|
|
|
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to explore the experience and the meaning of post-bereavement of the families who have lost a family member to suicide.
Methods: We interviewed three participants who had lost a family member to suicide more than three years ago and are now relatively stable. Data collection through in-depth interviews was conducted from March to July 2019, and a total of two to three interviews was conducted per participant. Data analysis, conducted with methods derived from Clandinin and Connelly (2000), included ¡°present on the site,¡± ¡°moving to field text,¡± ¡°site text composition,¡± ¡°experience meaning composition,¡± and ¡°research text composition.¡±

Conclusions: The results of this study can be used as a resource for effective counseling for families that experience family loss to suicide by providing a more in-depth understanding of the lives and experiences of the bereaved families who share the experience.
