Domestic Research Trends on Sexual Violence within the Family

Abstract

|
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine the trends of domestic research on sexual violence within the family.
Methods: For this purpose, 34 articles of domestic journals on sexual violence within the family were analyzed for year of publication, research method, research subject, period of damage, duration of damage, and relationship between victims and perpetrators.
Results: The results are as follows: first, the number of papers for each year of publication was usually around one, except for six in 2008. Second, the research methods were shown in order of qualitative, quantitative and mixed studies. Third, research subjects were most frequently researched on the causes of sexual violence among relatives and the period of action, followed by social welfare and legal intervention and solutions, and the aftereffects and adaptation process. Fourth, victim studies were the most frequent, followed by studies on perpetrators, family members and experts. Fifth, school age was the most common period of damage, and adult age was the most frequent period of violence. Sixth, the duration was the highest for more than five years.
Conclusions: Based on these results, the research on sexual violence within the family was discussed.
