The Mediating Effects of Face-saving and Self-Concealment on the Relationship between Family Relationship Difficulties and Seeking Professional Counseling

Abstract

|
Objectives: This study investigates the mediating effects of face-saving and self-concealment on the relationship between family relationship crisis and seeking professional help.
Methods: A total of 210 adults participated in the study by completing a structured questionnaire via both online (via Google) and offline.
Results: The study results are as follows: face saving and self-concealment each mediate the relationship between family relationship crisis and seeking professional help. Face saving and self-concealment yield a double mediating effect between family relationship crisis and seeking professional help.
Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that family therapists should focus on seeking professional help for family relationship crisis.
