Purpose : Using CT Image data, Statistically analysis the TOD(Table Object Distance) of major vessels by gender, age, BMI(Body Mass Index) and estimate the appropriate TOD calibration values.
Object and Method : Based on CT angiography data(abdomen, upper and lower extremity) taken in last year(2017), measure the TOD value of major vessels(abdomen aorta, brachial artery, common femoral artery, popliteal artery) and statistically analyze the variation of TOD by gender, age, BMI. Several factors influence TOD (Thickness of arm rest and cushion pad) were measured using DYNA CT and pelvis phantom. Without cushion pad, take a x-ray imaging of lead ruler on acrylic panel various height(5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15, 17.5, 20 cm). TOD was fixed default value(15 cm), measure the length of lead ruler.
Result : The equation of estimating TOD is abdomen aorta(male:TOD=48.870+0.140*Age+2.585 *BMI, female:TOD=49.086+0.129*Age+2.303*BMI), brachial artery(male: TOD=62.587-0.253* Age+0.735*BMI, female:TOD=42.833+0.536*BMI), common femoral artery (male:TOD=94.393 +2.242*BMI, female:TOD=98.838+1.850*BMI), popliteal artery (male:TOD=7.447+1.750*BMI, female:TOD=30.301-0.311*Age+1.630 *BMI). Table cushion pad is measured 2.25 ~ 4 cm, and arm rest is 5.5 cm. By wrong TOD calibration setting, distance measurement error is 1.26% per 1 cm.
Conclusion : When measure the length with TOD calibration, it is considered correct and useful method that setting proper TOD calibration value using statistical equation estimating TOD of major vessels by gender, age, BMI.
