Abstract
Patients with Alzheimer¡¯s disease have disturbance in basic ocular motions and higher visual cognitive behaviors. This article reviewed changes of eye movements including saccades, antisaccades, smooth pursuit, visual fixation, and complex visual search in Alzheimer¡¯s dementia. There are various cognitive mechanisms that cause ocular motor abnormalities; attentional deficit, inhibitory dysfunction, impaired working memory, and motivational deficit. Ocular motor assessment may aid in understanding of neuroanatomical changes of Alzheimer¡¯s disease.
