Abstract
The eye movements, as mechanical events, are subject to the general laws of kinematics. An understanding of the anatomy and kinetic principles of the extraocular muscles is essential for the understanding of the abnormalities of binocular vision. Although a very detailed knowledge of this subject is not required for the understanding of the clinical facts, a few fundamental concepts are needed to be discussed. This article reviewed the anatomy of the extraocular muscles and the basic principles of the monocular and binocular movements.
