Abstract

Optic perineuritis refers to an inflammatory disease preferentially involving the optic nerve sheath. Unlike optic neuritis, of which the visual field defect is mostly central or cecocentral scotoma, patients with optic perineuritis report a characteristic rim scotoma resembling peripheral constriction often seen in glaucoma. Herein, we report a patient showing characteristic rim scotoma due to optic perineuritis associated with anti-myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein associated disease (MOGAD). Negative MRIs in this patient implicates that visual field tests may aid in the detection of dormant optic perineuritis.
