Post-Graduate Medical Education for Family Medicine Residents after Abolition of Internship
Kim Byung-Sung

Abstract
A post-graduate medical education (PGME) system over 50 years old is faced with reformation after hot debate over the usefulness of internship. The working conditions for interns are not as good as residents and are inadequate for proper education. This intern course should be merged into residency by straight internship. Thus, we need a new PGME system for family residency training in the near future. Many training board members recommend the reinforcement of primary care training for several months, including consortium between tertiary and secondary hospitals, and an increase in table of organization of training program directors as of (N-1)¡¿4.
