Vaccination for Travelers
Lee Hye-Young

Lee Seung-Hwan
Abstract
International travel is increasing world-wide and advising travelers on vaccine-preventable disease is a cornerstone of travel medicine. Routine vaccinations such as measles-mumps-rubella and diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis should be reviewed and updated before travelling. Yellow fever immunization may be mandatory for traveling to tropical Africa and South America. This article also reviews vaccines used to protect travelers against hepatitis A and B, typhoid, rabies, infl uenza, pneumococcal disease, cholera, and Japanese encephalitis. Family physicians should make periodic updates to their knowledge of travel medicine.
