Abstract

Background: Previous studies suggest intake of dairy products may have some protective effects against obesity. However, there is still little research on the association between dairy products and obesity in Koreans. This study aimed to identify the relationship between dairy intake and obesity, among Korean adults.
Methods: Data from the fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were analyzed. The participants were divided into two groups and the differences were analyzed. We conducted complex samples logistic regression analysis with adjustment for covariates.
Results: We found that the frequency of dairy intake was inversely associated with obesity in women obesity. But we did not find a statistical significance among men.
Conclusion: Dairy intake was inversely associated with obesity among Korean women. Further studies are needed to determine the mechanisms and relationships.
