Abstract
Background: The indigenous malaria, vivax malaria, was eradicated in the 1980¡¯s and recurred in the 1990¡¯s. But it happens with high frequency in the 2000¡¯s. Though we analyzed the clinical and epidemiologic features in malaria with intent to know an indigenous malaria in Bupyeong serim hospital.

Methods: We analyzed retrospectively this malaria cases which was diagnosed in the microscopic examination of blood using blood films during 7 years from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2011. The twenty-five patients was analyzed by sex, age, year duration of admission, blood test, and abdominal ultrasonography to know splenomegaly with medical reports.

Results: The patients consist of 25 patients, the mean age of which was 36.5¡¾15.2 years. Common symptoms and signs were fever (25 patients, 100%), chilling (20 patients, 80%), headache (14 patients, 56%), myalgia (12 patients, 48%), nausea & vomiting (10 patients, 40%), abdominal pain (7 patients, 28%), diarrhea (5 patients, 20%), and splenomegaly (14 patients 56%). Blood test showed anemia (6 patients, 24%), leukopenia (11 patients, 44%), thrombocytopenia (23 patients, 92%). Aspartate transferase and alanine transferase were increased 12 patients (48%), 13 patients (52%), respectively. The most incidence of the malaria cases by year was 6 (24%) in the 2010, the least incidence 2 (8%) in the 2011.

Conclusion: We knew that there were many malaria cases when we analyzed at one general hospital. Vivax malaria displayed a clinical aspects and a good progress of treatment. In view of the recent increases of the indigenous malaria, we must take some measure to cope with them to diagnose fast and treat disease through the epidemiological analysis.
