Background : This study examines the quality of life of family caregivers of hospitalized patients, using the simplified Korean version of the World Health Organization quality of life scale-short form (WHOQOL-BREF).
Methods : The study period was November to December 2014. Family caregivers and guardians of patients in the comprehensive care ward and general ward of a secondary hospital in Seoul were enrolled. The Korean version of the WHOQOL-BREF was used to evaluate quality of life.
Results : Quality of life of caregivers did not significantly differ between comprehensive care ward and general ward (P>0.05).
Conclusion : Caregiving can affect the quality of life of family caregivers. Therefore, a large-scale study should be conducted to examine the quality of life of family caregivers of hospitalized patients.
