Abstract
Background: Colon polyps with hypertension are becoming increasingly prevalent. In case of colon polyps, as a precursor to colorectal cancer, the prevalence of colorectal cancer could be reduced if the disease is prevented at an early stage. Despite the high prevalence rates of colon polyps with hypertension, the existing research studies are insufficient. Thus, this study aimed to examine the factors that may affect the development of colon polyps, such as drinking and smoking habits in addition to hypertension.

Methods: From January 2012 to December 2014, Hospital¡¯s Health Center examined all 3,835 patients who visited for hypertension on the basis of colonoscopy results and daily habits. A research was conducted that excluded any patients who did not have or did not provide data on each variable.

Results: Chi-square test results showed that factors, such as age, sex, body mass index, hypertension, and medications were significant, with a P-value of <0.05. However, multivariate analysis revealed that hypertension and use of aspirin showed no significant correlation with the development of colon polyps.

Conclusion: Colon polyps are more likely to be observed as people age, especially in those aged >40 years, in males, those with obesity, and those with drinking habits. No significant correlations were found between hypertension, use of aspirin, and development of colon polyps.
