Abstract

|
Background: This study aimed to present evidence for the compositions of health examinations of men in their twenties by analyzing the results of health examinations for conscripted policemen.
Methods: From January 2013 to December 2015, a total of 7,289 results of health examinations and reviewed charts of conscripted policemen that were obtained from National Police Hospital were reviewed and analyzed using real numbers and proportions.
Results: The average age of the study subjects was 21.4 years old. As a result of the primary health examination, the total number of abnormal cases was 6,355 by reference range, and this figure decreased greatly to 1,566 by judgment range, particularly in terms of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), total bilirubin (t-bil), and total cholesterol. The total re-check cases were 1,643, and 1,371 people were re-check subjects (18.8%). The total secondary examinees consisted of 484 cases and 300 people (4.1%). Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) positive, venereal disease research laboratories (VDRL) positive, and abnormal chest posteroanterior (PA) showed a high visit rate and abnormal re-check results.
Conclusion: Among the health examination items for conscripted policemen who were living in their organizations, ALP and t-bil showed highly abnormal results regarding clinical uselessness, while HBsAg, VDRL, and chest PA showed good results with adequate clinical usefulness.
