Background: Coffee is one of the most consumed beverages worldwide. This study aimed to evaluate the association between coffee consumption and obesity.
Methods: This study included 8,659 adults aged >19 years who participated in the Sixth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2013?2015). Logistic regression was used to evaluate the association between coffee consumption with and without sugar and cream and obesity.
Results: The risk of obesity showed an increasing trend as the coffee consumption increased compared to the group that did not consume coffee. Logistic regression analysis showed a significant association between coffee consumption and obesity using the abdominal obesity standard in the fully adjusted model. The risk of obesity was higher in the groups that consumed coffee with and without cream and sugar than in the group that did not consume coffee.
Conclusion: A significant association was found between coffee consumption and obesity.
