Abstract
Objectives : This study was designed to determine the potential of CS¥±-YAKCHIM, manufactured from Brassicae Semen, Raphani Semen, Persicae Semen, and Carthami Fructus extracts, to induce micronuclei in bone marrow cells of mice when the CS¥±-YAKCHIM was dosed once to ICR mice by intramuscular.

Methods : Each of the groups consisted of three doses of CS¥±-YAKCHIM (0.05, 0.1, and 0.2 mL/animal), positive control (Mitomycin C), and negative control (normal saline). The time to harvest bone marrow cells for the main study was 24 hours.

Results : The incidence of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocyte (MNPCE) among polychromatic erythrocyte (PCE) was not significantly increased in the CS¥±-YAKCHIM-treated groups. Also, the ratio of PCE among total erythrocyte of the CS¥±-YAKCHIM-treated groups was not significantly different when compared to that of the negative control group.
Conclusions : Based on these results, CS¥±-YAKCHIM did not have any potential to induce micronuclei formation in bone marrow cells of mice under the conditions of this study
