The Effects of Upper Extremity Exercise with Gymstick on The Pulmonary Function of Smokers

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of upper extremity exercise using Gymstick on chronic smokers.
Method : This research has divided 20 smokers into 2 groups: ten with Gymstick exercise and the other ten with Cycle exercise for six weeks.
Results : The smokers with Gymstick exercise and cycle exercise have showed improvement on FVC, FIVC, PEF, and FEV1/FVC(p<.01). However, there was no significant difference between groups.
Conclusion : Gymstick exercise could be used intervention for the pulmonary function improvement of those who have decreased pulmonary functions.
