A Study on Obesity and Physical Fitness of Female Highschool Students Based on Sasang Constitutions

Abstract
Objective : This study aims to find out the differences in obesity and physical fitness of the persons classified by Sasang constitutional types by distinguishing Sasang constitutions of female highschool students and analyzing obesity and physical fitness based on Sasang constitutions.

Method : The subjects of this study are 200 female highschool students who live in the city K and S and convenience sampling method was used among non-probability sampling methods. Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution Classification II (QSCC II) was used to distinguish constitutions of subjects. Based on the result of constitution classification test, 77 students were classified as Soyangin, 65 students as Soeumin, 58 students as Taeumin, and 0 student as Taeyangin and the factors of obesity and physical fitness was measured for each group. For data processing, One-way ANOVA was conducted, using SPSS 20.0 statistics program. Scheffe and Dunnett T3 were used for post verification to find out the difference among groups.

Result & Conclusion : The result of research analysis shows that there is a significant difference in obesity of female high school students, and there is also a significant difference in muscular endurance, explosive muscular strength, and body endurance regarding physical fitness. The obesity and physical fitness of female students should be managed according to Sasang constitutions and a study about exercise program development based on Sasang constitutions needs to be conducted.
