Differences Between Obesity and Depression According to Female College Students' Sasang Constitution

Abstract
Objective : This research was to examine whether there are differences in the degree of obesity and depression according to female college students sasang constitution.

Method : A total of 183 female college students were divided into three types using the questionnaire of Sasang constitution classification (QSCCII): Tai-eum person 32, So-yang person 67, and So-eum person 68. 16 students who the constitution was not classified were excluded. In the case of measurement variables, body fat percentage and BMI were measured as an obesity factor and depression scale was investigated with Beck s (1961) BDI questionnaire. As for the data processing, one-way ANOVA was conducted, using statistics program (SPSS 18.0).

Result and Conclusion :
1. Body fat percentage was shown in the following order: Tai-eum person, So-eum person, and So-yang person.
2. BMI was shown in the following order: Tai-eum person, So-yang person and So-eum person. so we could know that Tai-eum person is the highest obesity constitution.
3. The depression was shown in the following order: Tai-eum person, So-eum person. so we could know that Tai-eum person and So-eum person has the higher depression disposition than So-yang person.
The above result shows that in the event of future researches on obesity and depression, the constitution should be considered and it could be provided as base research materials about the causal relationship between physical and psychological characteristics by sasang constitution.
