Analysis of the Research Trends of Mind-body Approach on Traffic Accident Patients in Korea - Focus on Domestic Thesis from 2000 to 2015

Abstract
Objectives : The aim of this review is to analyze research trends of the mind-body approach on traffic accident patients in Korea from 2000 to 2015.

Methods : We investigated the studies related mind-body approach on traffic accident patients via searching five Korean web databases. Consequently, twenty seven research papers were founded. We classified these papers according to their published year, the ti-tles of journal, the type of study, the number of cases, the sites of injury, the types of treatments, the assessment scales of study, and ethics approvals.

Results : Twenty seven papers have been published since 2000. the studies related mind-body approach on traffic accident patients were mainly published Journal of Oriental Rehabilitation Medicine, The Acupuncture, and The Korean Society of Oriental Neuropsychiatry. Twenty six papers were clinical research include twenty two case series, two non randomized controlled trials, two randomized controlled trials and one literature review. Visual analog scale and Minnesota multi-phasic personality inventory were used as primary assessments. Only four clinical stud-ies were mentioned about approval of institutional review board.

Conclusions : In reviewing published papers, damage to the body, as well as emotional and phychological factors are thought to affect the condition or prognosis of traffic accidents patients. Through controlled studies, herbal-medication, acupuncture(Damjeonggyeok), cuppingtherapy showed good effect on decreasing of pain scale and improving of psychological symptoms after traffic accident.
