A Review of the Domestic Study Trends on Traumatic Peripheral Nerve Injury Treated with Korean Medicine

Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examines the domestic study trends on traumatic peripheral nerve injury treated with Korean medicine.

Methods: We investigated the studies on Korean medicine treatment for Traumatic Peripheral Nerve Injury via searching 6 online databases.

Results: As a result, 14 records were found to be analyzed according to their published year, the types of study, intervention, injured nerve, trauma and relevant outcome. Researchs have been continuously published in a form of clinical case report since 2012. The most treated interventions were acupuncture and herbal medication. Brachial plexus damage was the most common peripherial injury. Traffic accident was the first cause, and the mostly used tools for reports were visual analogue scale and range of motion.

Conclusions: Reviewing the domestic trends of studies on Korean medicine treatment for traumatic peripheral nerve injury would be conjugated to establish a basic knowledge of the future study. It is anticipated that this review benefits the future in-depth study on the treatments for traumatic peripheral nerve injury in terms of Korean medicine.
