Concealed Penis
Cho Won-Yeol

Abstract
Concealed penis is a congenital anomaly in which the Dartos fascia has not developed into the normally elastic configuration that allows the skin to slide freely on the deep layers of the penile shaft. This defect causes normal penis to entrap within the subcutaneous tissue of the prepubic region and results in a partially or totally obscured phallus. The classification, etiology, need for therapy, the timing of reconstruction have been controversial. Also numerous surgical procedures have been developed to correct this kind of congenital abnormality. The most current reviews describe their surgical techniques in accordance with the type of concealed penis, further emphasizing the need to understand the pathophysiology and variability. The surgeon should be familiar with several approaches, as the etiology is multifactorial, as well as skin advancement techniques to ensure adequate penile skin coverage.
