Abstract
Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR or "reflux") refers to the retrograde flow of urine from the bladder into the upper urinary tract. Although VUR, a common pediatric urologic disorder, is believed to predispose to urinary tract infection (UTI), and both are associated with renal scarring, there is disagreement regarding the optimal management, even among specialists caring for these children. Because of the lack of consensus regarding management of this common condition, the Korean Society of Pediatric Urology convened a panel of experts to develop treatment guidelines for children with VUR. The recommendations in this report are to assist physicians specifically in the treatment of VUR in children diagnosed following a UTI.
