Retroperitoneal Immature Teratoma Mistaking Wilms’ Tumor

Abstract

|
We report the case of a 5-month-old girl with retroperitoneal immature teratoma that mistaken a Wilms’ tumor. Primary extragonadal immature teratoma in the retroperitoneum are very rare. Teratoma arise from the totipotential primitive germ cell and are composed of tissues derived from two or three germ cell layers. Immature teratoma contain varying
amounts of neuroectodermal or blastemal tissues. For retropetoneal tumor containing calcfications and well-circumscribed fluid components on the imaging study, retroperitoneal immature teratoma is needed to be considered in the differential diagnosis.
