A Case of Sarcoid Reaction Associated with Dual Cancers of the Stomach and Kidney
Oh Hoon-Kyu

Abstract
A 66-year-old man found a right kidney tumor incidentally during evaluation for his early gastric cancer. A sarcoid reaction comprising epithelioid cells and giant cells was seen in the regional lymph nodes and kidney tumor itself. Sarcoid reaction have been supposed to represent an immune response of the tumoral stroma to antigens expressed by the neoplasia, manifested as a local T cell?mediated immune reaction. Using immunohistochemical evaluation, cells of the granuloma were CD68 positive and surrounded by CD3 and CD8 positive T cells. A few CD20 positive B cells are infiltrated in the granulomas. No signs of sarcoidosis were found in the other organs. According to the few publications that mention cancer associated sarcoid reaction, such lesions do not influence the prognosis. The patient is still well for a 3 months follow-up.
