Ischemic preconditioning for the open nephron sparing surgery in the solitary kidney -A report of 2 cases-

Abstract
|

|
There are patients who have anatomical or functional solitary kidney caused by recipient or donor of renal transplantation, trauma, medical disorder, congenital anomaly, disorders of renal artery and so on. When these patients must undergo operation which is related with the solitary kidney, we concern about ischemic-reperfusion injury of the solitary kidney. The limitation of warm ischemic time with clamping of renal artery is known to 20 minutes. There are many factors of this limited warm ischemic time ; single kidney, surgical manipulation of renal artery, intraoperative compression of renal parenchyma, patients’ body temperature, use of mannitol, intraoperative blood pressure, laparoscopic surgery, local hypothermia, ischemic preconditioning and so on. We report two cases who underwent solitary kidney operation and we performed ischemic preconditioning for the renal protection.
