Folk medicines were used by 15.0% of the patients, but 43.5% of those patients reported that folk medicines were not effective. About 17.2% of the patients exercised regularly, 54.0% of them walked, and both groups exercised an average of 4.6 times per week.

Conclusion: In rural areas, it is necessary to build a community health care delivery system, to treat more efficiently the pain of patients with degenerative arthritis. In particular, it requires more attention to the pain management of
elderly women, the vast majority of rural patients with degenerative arthritis. Having public health center in rural area, there needs to be an operation of the self-help program focused on exercise.
