Abstract

Hydranencephaly is a rare central nervous system disorder which characterized by severe dysgenesis of cerebral
hemispheres with relative preservation of the thalamus and brain stem. Hypothalamic dysfunction is common features
of holoprosencephaly, which need to discriminate with hydranencephaly. There is no case about hydranencephaly with hypothalamic dysfunction in Korea. We experienced one case of hydranencephaly whose plasma soudium concentration increased during the first month with low ADH level. Body temperature did not regulated properly. Prolactine level increased very high after injection of thyrotropin releasing hormone, that suggest dysfunction of hypothalamus rather than pituitary gland . We report a rare case of hydranencephaly with hypothalamic dysfunction.
