Abstract

|
We report the case of a patient who died of inflammatory breast carcinoma associated with silicone fluid injected breast.
The injection of silicone fluid into breast for mammary augmentation is now forbidden by the Unite States Food and Drug administration. But many women had been injected by quack doctors, travelling healers, nurses or in the beauty parlors.
Breast injection of silicone fluid is considered unwise since severe complications have been reported. Most of all, it camouflages normal breast tissue; making breast examination difficult or impossible.
Prevention of silicone injection would seem best.
