Osteoplastic thumb reconstruction by means of a bone graft by a tubed pedicle flap has long been a technique for severely injured thumb reconstruction.
In general, neurovascular island pedicle flap has been used for adequate sensory perception on the reconstructed thumb.
This is a report of 3 cases with severely crushed injury on the middle 1 /3 of the thumb, which were treated with osteoplastic thumb reconstruction with neurovascular island pedicle flap.
The following results are obtained with good outcome.
1. provide robust padding
2. good sensation
3. increased blood flow
4. almost normal two-point discrimination
5. Good functional compensation.
