Abstract

|
Many cases of cerebral rete mirabile, a particular disease entity, had been reported and discussed by some Japanese authors in these ten yearsl, 3, 4, 7, 9,11, i8,14,1s They asserted that
cerebral rete mirabile is characterized by the intracranial congenital or developmental anomaly. apparently confined to Japanese.
But more recently, not a few cases of this disease in non-Japanese have been reported. By some authors in the United States 8,10,12,17 Europes 615 and Korea 2,5. This disease is now
turned out not to be confined to Japanese, but it¢¥s universality over the world should be accepted.
Unfortunately, in spite of plentiful case reports of this condition, its exact pathogenesis and etiology are open to discussion, probably due to extremely scanty postmortem studies. Only a few postmortem studies, less than ten, were reported solely in Japan.
We report the following case, including autopsy findings, in which marked proliferation of intimal pad of intracranial arterial walls was evident.
