CLINICAL APPRAISAL ON THE ACCIDENTAL PREGNANCY WITH LIPPES LOOP

Abstract
The accidental or unintended pregnancy is really an undesirable event in the use of intrauterine or other contraceptives.
Since the mechanism of action of Intrauterine Contraceptie Device (IUD) in the human is still not clear, the cause of accidental pregnancy is also not entirely understood at present.
This retrospective study on the cases of accidental pregnancy attempted to single out the relevant clinical characteristics such as age, parity and so forth in particular relation to the risk of accidental pregnancy with IUD, Lippes loop in situ.
This clinical analysis of sixty cases of accidental pregnancy with IUD, Lippes loop, in situ has shown that most of the event had occurred in the first year following first insertion.
Beyond the expectation, the pregnancy rate seemed to be not significantly affected by the age and parity or other clinical characteristics in this study.
It could not be assumed also that the size of the loop was a significant contributing factor in the incidence of accidental pregnancy as far as the sizes of 27.5 mm and 30 mm were concerned like this series.
