Abstract
|
|
|
A case of systemic lupus erythematosus associated with psychosis of 30-year-old Korean housewife is _ presented with a review of literature.
The patient was admitted because of febrile episode associated with symptoms of pyelonephritis with two months´ duration.
Physical examination showed butterfly rash on .the face, hepatosplenomegaly and tenderness on the right flank.
Laboratory findings disclosed pancytopenia,_proteinuria, pyuria, positive immune reactions and typical L.E. cells on peripheral blood smear.
During the hospitalization, she showed an episode of severe psychotic manifestation requiring psychiatric management including electric shock treatment.
She showed marked improvement on discharge with transfusion, corticosteroid, antibiotics, and psychiatric management.
