A Study on High-Heeled Gait using Three Dimensional Motion Analysis System

Abstract
In today's society, many women wore high-heeled shoes. But. The effect that shoes of different heel heights have on the biomechanics of gait has not been fully investigated, especially in Korean women. In the present study, the lower extremity
biomechanics in low-and high-heelded shoes were examined in 22 Korean female subjects. Kinematic kinetic data and dynamic electromyographic data were collected while subjects walked on a overground at a selfselected comfortable speed. As a
results.
Linear parameters of gait were different to heel height(slower walking speed, shorter stride length and single support period in high-heeled gait). In sagittal plane kinematics, ankle pantar flexion and knee flexion at heel strike were increased
with
heel height. In sagittal plane kinetics, ankle power generation and plantar flexion moment during terminal stance were also decreased with heel height. However, further studies are required to obtain more precise analysis of high-heeled gait.
