A Philological study on poisoning of Tribuli Fructus(白질藜)

Abstract

|
Tribuli Fructus is in use in Korean medicine. Korean medical doctors use Tribuli Fructus for calming the liver and suppressing yang(平肝潛陽), dispelling wind and relieving itching(祛風止痒), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Trubuli Fructus. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The main ingredients of poisoning are potassium nitrite, etc. The ingredients of poisoning from Tribuli Fructus mainly can cause fatigue, dizzy, nausea, rapid pulse, methemoglobin, etc and can cause hypersensitivities like eruption by internal use. 2. The representative methods of poisoning treatment in western medicine are washing out the stomach, causing diarrhea and symptomatic treatment, etc. And the medical doctor can prescribe antiallergic agent in the case of causing hypersensitivities. 3. In order to prevent against poisoning of Tribuli Fructus, the patients should keep usage, dosage and notes.
