Abstract

|
Numerous reports have documented cardiac arrhythmias in animals and man during halothane anesthesia.
Cardiac arrhythmia may occur regularly with halothane anesthesia being related to several factors; fright, overdose of atropine, surgical stimulation in light anesthesia, hypercarbia and intravenous injection of epinephrine.
The author experienced 2 cases of severe atrial arrhythmia and ventricular tachycardia induced by halo¡©-thane anesthesia.
Case I was treated by injection of 5mg of tolamolol, beta adrenergic receptor blocking agent, and case¢¥2 by change of anesthetic agent with ether.
