Kanamycin is one of the aminoglycosides. There has been scanty reports with allergic contact dermatitis due to kanamycin in other countries. However, pure allergy to kanamycin ointment has not been reported in Korea.
We reported a case of kanamycin allergic contact dermatitis developed in a 24-year-old woman. Since inserting tissue expander to her face the had been dressed with kanamycin ophthalmic ointment. Eczematous skin erpution with sinus appeared in the
dressing site. Parch test result showed that she was allergic to kanamycin. After cessation of topical kanamycin her dermatitis was subsided.
