Abstract

|
Clinco-Pathological as well as statistical surveys were made on a series of 329 patients with ovarian tumor who were admitted, operated and confirmed with postoperative histopathological study at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Presbyterian Medical Center, ChonJu, Korea during 8 years from Jan, 1983 to Dec. 1990
The results were as follows
The incidence of non-neoplastic overian cyst was 29.2%, that of benign overian tumor was 52.9% and that of malignant tumor was 17.9%. Among the benign overian tumors, cystic teratoma was most. frequently revealed in 67.8%, and among the malignant tumors, serous cystadenocarcinoma was most frequently revealed in 42.3%. The distribution of malignant overian tumors according to histologic classification was 69.5% for epithelial tumors, 18.6% for germ cell tumors, 8.5% for gonadal stromal tumors and 3.4% for metastatic tumors in order. The incidence of all overian tumor was greatest in para O. ´P--;e mean size of tumors was 5.Ocm in non-neoplastic overian cyst, 9.7cm in venign overian tumors and 14.2cm in malignant ovarian " tumors... The chief complaints were note by lower abdominal pain or discomfort(53.2%), palpable mass in the lower abdomen(41.2%), abdominal distension (10.7%) and abnormal genital bleeding(7.7%) in order. The distribution of malignant ovarian tumors according to stage was 44.1% for stage I, 23.7% for stage N, 20.3% for stage IIl and 11.90/0 for stage H. The most common postoperative complication was anemia, being presented in 26.6% of cases. In the postoperative adjuvant treatment, chemotherapy was done in 45.8% of operated cases. Radiotherapy was performed in 13.6% of operated cases. The rate of second look operation was 1.7%.
