Assessment of Nasopharyngeal Airway by MRI

Abstract

|
History taking, digital examination, posterior rhinoscopy or cephalometric radiologic examinations are used for assessing the nasopharyngeal airways in children. But it was difficult to know the nasopharyngeal conditions. We used the MR for
checking the
nasopharynx and correlated the results with the symtoms. We found that the ratio of areas of the adenoids and the nasopharyngeal airways was the most significant parameter for assessing the conditions of the nasopharynx. And we also found that
apneic
attack and snoring were well correlated with nasopharyngeal obstruction.
