Abstract

Acute ethmoiditis is often complicated from upper respiratory infection. Orbital and intracranial complications can occur because of the close anatomical relationships among the paranasal sinuses, orbit and the brain.
We experienced a case of cerebritis in 12 years old male child with orbital cellulitis and ethmoiditis. EEG revealed localized slow waves on left frontal area, and MRI showed high signal intensity on same region. This patient was treated with
intravenous infusion of cefotaxime and gentamicin for 4 weeks, and recovered completely.
We report a case of cerebritis with a review of literatures.
