The Effect of Selenium Deficiency on Morphological Cahnges of the Skin in Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
We investigated the morphological changes of skin of Spraugue-Dawley rats induced selenium deficiency by feeding Torula yeast diet for three weeks.
The hypertrophy of basal cell layer, interrupted continuity of basal membrane, swelling of mitochondria, amultivesicular body and thickend tonofilaments were observed on light microscope and electron microscope.
These changes were more prominent in the layer of basal cells than those of the spinous cells or granular cells.
