Fungus such as Candida albicans is a normal flora that is frequently found in the oral cavity, gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary tract, vaginal mucosa in a normal person. However, candida can cause opportunistic infection in an immune compromised host.
Candidiasis has broad spectrum of disease from mucocutaneous infection to invasive or disseminated infection.
