A study on Hand Function Improvement of Cerebral palsy Children by Bilateral Activities and In-hand Manipulation Activities.
ÀÌÁöÀº/Jee Eun Lee
Abstract
-Abstract-
Mild cerebral palsy children have difficulties in performing ADL (Activities of Daily
Living ) because of clumsy hand function. This study compares bilateral activities and
in-hand manipulation activities, which come from the effects of three-month training in
the sixteen cerebral palsy children. Hand function test is performed by Jebsen Hand
Function Test and FIM (Functional Independence Measure).
All two activities show significancy in improvement of children's hand function and
performance of ADL. In-hand manipulation activities, however, have more significant
effect than bilateral activities in bathing, toileting and fine pinch which needs the
detailed movement. This result comes from the manipulation skill of non-dominant
hand's improvement.
And so the training of in-hand manipulation skills, as one of occupational therapy to
improve fine hand function, have to be considered.
