The Effects of Cortisone on the Phagocytic Activity of RES

Abstract

|
Considering the relationship between the adrenal gland and the phagocytic activity of reticuloendothelial system, a large amount of cortisone administered in normal rabbits and the phagocytic activity of reticuloendothelial system was investigated by radioactive isotope, which are known widely used in medical experiments.
Generally the phagocytic activity of reticuloendothelial system was decreased due to the cortisone administration; severe decrement about 1/2 wss noticed in liver, bone marrow and adrenal gland, while spleen showing slight decrement.
