The Mutual Antagonism between Tetracaine and Aconitine

Abstract
¥°) Effects of tetracaine, lidocaine and aconitine on the cardiac beat, arterial blood pressure and respiration were investigated in urethane-anesthetized rabbits.
1) The infusion of aconitine (2 §¶/kg/min) into the jugular vein produced the cardiac irregularities, hypotension and respiratory Paralysis.
2) The infusion of tetracaine (200 §¶/kg/min) produced marked ST-depression and Prolongation¢¥of the QRS interval In the rabbit electrecardiogram.
3) The ST-depression and the prolonigation of the QRS interval by tetracaine were markedly alleviated by the sin ultaneous administration of aconitine.
The simultaneous administration of aconitine and tetracaine markedly increased the doses of aconitine for the production of the arrhythmia and the respiratory paralysis, and weakened the hyporensive effect of aconitine.
4) Lidocaine (l mg/kg/min) induced little effect on the cardiac teat and the blood pressure, and did not affect the aconitine effects.
¥±) Effects of tetracaine, and aconitine on the scdium and potassium content of e frog heart were investigated.
1) Aconitine diminishid the potassium content, but not the sodium content.
2) Tetracaine did not affect the electrolyes content.
3) Aconitine did not diminish the potassium content in the tetracaine-treated frog hearts.
